Putting on Millennial-Colored Glasses

Presented by Art Hobba

The surge of tens of millions of Millennials into the workforce has been received with mixed emotions. It is no secret that leaders from Baby Boomers and Gen X generations have sometimes chafed under some of the attitudes these young people seem to bring with them to work. And more are coming. By 2020, they will represent 50% of the US workforce.

As the father of 5 adult sons, 3 of whom are Millennials, Art Hobba has become a personal and professional millennial expert on these young people ages 15-35. He will share his story of a personal epiphany that revealed how his own Boomer worldview had tainted his relationships with his sons, and their subsequent pathway to reconciliation.

As a Talent and Leadership Coach to mid-sized organizations for over 15 years, this "aha" moment also impacted his practice to such an extent that he has become a proponent on building stronger bridges between the workforce generations in order to release the full potential of this most educated generation in history.

In this engaging presentation, Art will discuss:

  1. Common myths about Millennials, with some revealing insights you may not know
  2. The leadership approach that works and does not work with these workers.
  3. How non-Millennials can and must initiate bridge building by first understanding the "why" behind the typical worldview of this generation. HINT: It is very different than ours

Art Hobba writes, speaks, and consults with his clients on the organizational transformation. He founded Transcende in 2001, and has helped scores of clients realize performance transformation through his company's unique Wisdom + Technology approach. Art and his team provide expert solutions in the areas of Culture, Leadership, talent strategy, and millennial integration.
