Can Coaching Work in a Refugee Camp??

In September 2016, Bev Weise, Executive Coach and founder of Leadership Talent Solutions spent two weeks volunteering independently in a Refugee Camp on the island of Chios, Greece.  Refugees hailed from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Sudan, Djibouti, Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria, Morocco and more.

In addition to teaching English to children and adults, she spent most of her time meeting refugees, listening to their stories, and documenting their narratives on a daily blog:  www.facebook.com/BevsTravels.

Bev will share photos, stories, and her experience working with refugees.  She’ll discuss how she tried to applied coaching principles to people who spoke minimal English, realistically had few options, and absolutely no hope.   She’ll show how brain science can explain why the refugee experience provides the perfect storm for triggering primitive, negative emotions and behaviors.
