Are You Communicating Effectively?
What's Your Intent?
In my executive coaching practice I often hear people say "I didn't intend to..." My reply is, "What did you intend?" and "Did you communicate your intent to the other person?" As training and coaching professionals we encourage others to exhibit emotional intelligence and assume positive intent from others. What about us? What is the intent of our actions when communicating?
What is your intent, when...
- you receive an email asking three specific questions and respond "ok, thanks"?
- you send an email with a request on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm?
- you say "Tuesdays and Thursdays are bad for me"?
In our fast-paced world of opting to use a click or a like as a quick way to communicate we are missing the opportunity to clarify expectations, reduce email clutter and build relationships. Effective communication requires an investment of time to drive results and establish a solid brand with connections. Join us for this discussion of best practices to create an action plan with the intent to communicate effectively.
