When is the best time to learn that your training initiative isn't engaging your learners?

Our learners have changed. We can’t afford to solely focus on business impact and performance. We now serve an audience made of consumers. These consumers are used to incredible experiences, using the best technology, all while helping them learn and perform better.

As the talent development field adjusts to these changes in learner expectations, we find ourselves not only the curators of content and objectives, but custodians of the learner experience.   Where does a module interface lose our learners?  Which activity, while pedagogically sound, confuses program participants?  The field of Learner Experience includes new theories, approaches, and technology that intersects our own and can advance how we deliver training.

User Experience is a person's emotions and attitudes about using a particular product, system or service.

In this time of change, use the framework of a product manager to tackle all of these new approaches and technology and prepare yourself for whatever comes next.

This webinar is an introduction to a larger conversation on the Learner Experience.  Check out our Learner Experience Tools workshop on 4/16.

Application On The Job:

Explore the role of the product manager and how the responsibilities align with the role of learning system owner or designer.

Facilitated by:

Matthew Daniel is a high-energy, no-holds-barred, tell-it-like-it-is learning consultant and learner experience advocate working in and with some of the largest and most innovative companies across the country (including six years in one of the nations top ten banks – Capital One). While he’s implemented LMSs, LCMSs, Social Learning Platforms, and Curation Tools– his biggest success comes not in the implementation of the system, but in helping learning professionals figure out how to take their existing skills and experience and adapt to the digital age in a realistic way.

Matthew believes in building incredible learning experiences, not just events – that all begins with good instructional design, but it has to be wrapped in incredible user experience. Prior to implementing learning systems, Matthew was an instructional designer who built large-scale new hire and upskill programs for organizations like Microsoft, Cigna, Homeland Security, the DoD, Honeywell, Valero, BristolMeyer Squibb, and ExxonMobil.

Today, Matthew works with learning software companies on product design, consults on learning transformation, and inspires learning professionals to adopt new technologies and create amazing experiences to transform the lives of our learners.
