Organizations have become more interested in the topic of diversity and inclusion. While many organizations strive for diversity and invest in diversity training, these programs have come under greater scrutiny for their lack of delivery on promised outcomes. The need for more effective understanding of data is an important yet oft-neglected part of evaluating diversity problems.
At the end of this session you will:
- Identify a variety of diversity programs (selection, promotions, training) and their uses
- Learn how to use needs assessment data to identify the appropriate diversity and inclusion program
- Identify potential sources of diversity and inclusion needs in employee engagement data
- Develop effective strategies for evaluation of diversity programs
Sayeed Islam has over 10 years of experience in a variety of corporate, academic, and applied settings. He completed his PhD in Applied Organizational Psychology from Hofstra University. Sy is currently an Associate Professor of Industrial Organizational Psychology at Farmingdale State College. In addition to his role as a professor, he is a co-founder and a Vice President of Consulting at Talent Metrics. In his role at Talent Metrics, he collaborates with organizations through consulting engagements in his areas of expertise (training and development, selection, survey design, performance management, and team building). He serves as the Co-Chair of the People Analytics Special Interest Group for the NYC chapter of the Association for Talent Development. Sy has delivered presentations for I-O Shaken and Stirred and Disrupt HR Long Island and won the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology’s Scientist-Practitioner Presidential Recognition Award for his focus on science driven practices in training and talent development.
Jenna-Lyn Roman is an Associate Consultant at Talent Metrics. She completed her MS degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Baruch College, CUNY. At Baruch, her coursework and research focused on work-life topics, occupational health psychology, and diversity and inclusion topics. Jenna received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Leadership Studies from the University of South Florida. Prior to Talent Metrics, she worked in training and professional development for a department of approximately 1,500 people at a large transportation organization in New York. She has also held roles as a teaching assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology and Baruch College. Jenna is active in the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology serving as the communications lead for the Ambassador Program. She also co-authored eight TIP-Topics for Students columns for The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist (TIP) from 2017-2019.
