Learning leaders struggle to keep up with the constant change of pace of the business. It’s been recently reported that employees’ major complaint with organizational learning is that it’s no longer relevant. What do leaders need to do differently to ensure learning opportunities are relevant for employees and the business? They must have a clear and agile learning strategy that aligns with the core metrics of their business.

All learning has a business impact. Our job is to create a clear value proposition for how each learning initiative supports a business’s needs and goals! This session will give leaders the essential critical thinking skills and tools to help them create their learning strategy and track its effectiveness on a regular basis!

In this session you will:

  • Explore six common learning value propositions that align learning activities with business impact.
  • Discover an agile process for aligning and evaluating the impact of learning activities on business goals.
  • Review a learning strategy tracker to have clear visibility into what learning activities align with a businesses’ key performance indicators.
  • Align your learning activities with strategic business priorities.
  • Describe the value of learning to stakeholders.

Knowledge I uniquely bring to this workshop:

I am a learning and data nerd who's been in this industry for 15 years. I’ve played nearly every role in learning and development across many sectors (nonprofit, government, academia, learning vendor, and corporate enterprise). In my current and previous roles, I’ve worn the hats learning strategist, instructional designer, training facilitator, and evaluation expert. Each of these experiences and perspectives uniquely position me to support learning leaders in managing individual contributors and learning function to support their organizations at the highest levels.

Topic Importance:

New and mid-level learning pros often struggle prioritizing their work. When every request for learning is important and urgent, it's hard to say no. Creating the practice of aligning learning initiatives to specific business value propositions will make it easier for learning pros to say yes and by when to ongoing requests for training.
