Join us for a lively and informative Panel Discussion and Q & A! This blended SIG event is designed for early-career/Young Professionals and joint OC/LA chapters Transitioning Professionals SIG in L & D. And our leaders from these two SIG groups will be your facilitators.

Our panel of L & D professionals will share their expertise, day-to-day experiences, and the skills that have helped them succeed.

Attendees will walk away with practical insights and a clearer roadmap to navigate the field of Learning and Development.

In addition, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and describe key roles within L & D.
  • Understand how different functions contribute to broader organizational learning objectives.
  • Evaluate their own interests, strengths, and transferable skills to determine which roles may be the best fit and help meet their overall career goals.

About Your Panelists:



Christina Boryk has two decades of experience in designing custom processes and procedures to facilitate learning and development product development in the most ambiguous and unpredictable environments. Her secret in managing successful product deliveries includes a watchful eye on strategy alignment, resource allocation and usage and delivery dates with a focus on consistent communication. Her project management role at St. Charles Consulting Group has been a key to her success. It has allowed her the flexibility to move from an internal role into an external one and further diversify her experience, skills and network.

Christina has served on the ATD New York City Metro Chapter Board for two years and presented at the annual ATD Chapter Leaders Conference. Additionally, she served on the ATD Los Angeles Chapter board from 2020-2022, and in 2021 led the relaunch of the Mentor Program.

 

Alex Magsarili is an Instructional Designer at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Since 2017, he has contributed to digital learning, mobile app testing, and enterprise training. He designs eLearning courses, SharePoint sites, and instructional media to support clinical and operational excellence. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Science and Technology from the University of Arizona.

Also, he completed the Chief Learning Officer Accelerator program and a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner certification. Outside of work, Alex enjoys powerlifting, watching movies, and networking—pursuing both personal growth and professional connections with energy, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit.

 

Cyndi Nagel, Senior Manager, Talent & Organizational Development, Hyundai Motor America. With over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Talent Acquisition, Cyndi Nagel is a passionate and results-driven leader dedicated to fostering employee growth and driving organizational success. As the Senior Manager of Talent and Organizational Development at Hyundai Motor America, she oversees global talent development initiatives impacting more than 1,200 employees.

Her career spans the retail, distribution, and manufacturing sectors, giving her a well-rounded perspective on business operations and the strategic approaches needed for sustainable growth. She is known for building impactful talent development strategies, designing effective training programs, and serving as a trusted HR business partner.

  James Oakley is an Instructional Designer and eLearning Developer

specializing in technical training for Fortune 500 companies. Formerly a high school English teacher, he now creates impactful learning experiences for adult learners—most recently building global training programs for Critical Facility Engineers at Meta Data Centers. James believes that anyone can transition into L&D, regardless of background. To support that, he leads a Special Interest Group (SIG) for professionals switching careers, offering resume reviews, portfolio tips, mock interviews, and guest panels. James is passionate about helping others find their niche and build confidence in the Learning and Development field.
