Kavita Gupta, ATD-LA PresidentHappy Spring! I hope that 2021 is off to a good start and you are making headway on the professional and personal goals you established for yourself on January 1! Your board, chapter leaders and volunteers have been working hard, and we have now held six meetings and events, as well as launched the SoCal Young Professionals Special Interest Group in collaboration with the Orange County and San Diego chapters. If you missed out on the information meeting on February 18, please email youngprofessionals@atdla.org for an Interest Form and to be added to the mailing list for updates and information about upcoming initiatives.

The International Conference and Exposition that ATD-LA was slated to host this year finally got moved to Salt Lake City because of the uncertainty around the COVID situation in Los Angeles. The good news is that ATD-LA still retained top priority for volunteers to work at the conference and attend the conference for free! Be sure to check out volunteer opportunities on our website, and get ready to pack your bags for an all immersive learning and networking trip with thousands of talent development professionals in late August!

As always, we are here for any questions or concerns you may have about your membership. Please feel free to drop me a line at president@atdla.org at your convenience and hope to see you at our March events!

ATD-LA is excited to announce the return of the Mentor Program for 2021!

Looking for guidance and feedback on how to meet your career goals for next year? Want to give back to the ATD-LA community by supporting your peers in their professional endeavors? If you’ve answered yes to one of these questions, we’ll be excited to welcome you to this new cohort as either a Mentor or a Mentee. Registration is now open using the links below.

Mentoring is a formal relationship between two people, one more experienced than the other, focused on professional and career development. Pairs will engage in purposeful and regular meetings to create career goals, share industry expertise, offer feedback and ensure progress to mutually determined outcomes.

The ATD-LA Mentor Team will accept applications, create the matches and host a formal Meet & Greet of the final pairs and a program orientation. Mentors and Mentees will then meet once a month from April through September 2021. To support the discussions, the ATD-LA Mentor Team will curate and distribute content to all participants.

    Registration opens: January 21, 2021

    Registration closes: February 11, 2021

    Notification of Mentor/Mentee Match: March 11, 2021

Meet and Greet & Orientation: March 2021 (3rd or 4th week), TBD

    Mentor/Mentee Meetings: April – September 2021

The ATD-LA Mentor Team will provide more details during the Announcements at the January Chapter Meeting.
